A NEDCO Success Story

Michelle Alcott-Mills is a mother of three and a lifelong resident of Mesa. After spending several years as a firefighter, and later an Emergency Medical Technician, she was looking for a way to combine her emergency response skills, her Education and Counseling university degrees, and her entrepreneurial dreams. Soon after founding Safety on Site, her company was awarded the State contract to provide AEDs (Automated External Defibrillators) and relevant training to all public facilities. However even though business was booming, Michelle started noticing cash flow trouble waiting for checks to come from the public clients. Light Rail is Coming to Downtown Mesa!


The City of Mesa has contracted with NEDCO to assist the businesses along the construction route prepare for and weather the construction.

All assistance is free.

Studies in other cities that have lived through light rail construction show that businesses who prepare, do better during construction.

NEDCO offers free workshops, business assessment and individual consulting, to assist businesses along the construction route (Main Street, from Dobson to Mesa Drive, First Avenue to First Street).

The process works as follows (see the schematic below):
